A
website in today’s day and age is often the first form
of contact many potential customers have before choosing to
buy or use the services of a company (how many times have you
'Googled' a company before choosing to use them?). It is therefore
essential that the a company's website not only provides the
necessary information a potential customer requires but also
portrays an image of the company which would encourage potential
customers to choose that company over possible rivals. In most
cases, a company's website is the best and often cheapest form
of advertising considering the high potential for return on
investment.
During
the website design and development process I typically adopt
an iterative approach where I propose a design, then the client
gives feedback on the design (i.e. what they like/want to be
different). This is then fed back into the design process. This
ensures the final website developed is exactly what you want.
Websites
that I have developed include:
Beautiq
- Beauty Therapy Salon, Guildford, UK
Within the Beautiq design, appearance was very important to the client as this was a newly started business and the website was the first point of contact for most potential customers (proceeding classical advertising prompting people to go to the site). As such it provided the 'brand' perception of the company. Content was also particularly important as the client wanted to rapidly develop a customer base and the ability for potential customers to find the site using Google and other search engines was key to this.
Evacmod.net
- Evacuation Modelling Portal, International
Evacmod.net
is a website which allows users to log on to the site, then
upload papers/books, post messages on a forum, talk on a chatroom,
display news from other websites, or advertise/view jobs in
the field. The premise behind the site was that it needs to
provide a platform for professionals to exchange or find out
information for the particular subject. With all of these requirements,
key consideration was given to the menu system and navigation
system of the site (there was a big potential that users would
easily get lost on the site with so much functionality).
Just
me - My personal website
My
personal website was developed when I used to live in China,
so I wanted my Chinese friends who do not speak English to be
able to understand at least the menu system. I also wanted a
very clear and simple design so anyone could navigate the site
to find the information they were looking for (e.g. pictures
etc).
If
you need a website being developed and like what you have seen
so far, then why not get in touch.
